Changes to the program

Hi guys and girls, in this blog I'm going to talk about what changes I would like to do in the program.

I guess a lot of you are going to talk about "BAyB" (anatomical and biological basis of face and neck) but I am going to go further.

First of all in the first year there are 3 "biological" subjects: biological basis, anatomical basis and "BAyB" in which the subjects of basic cell biology, general histology and system histology are included in "biological basis" (1st semester), a summary of the whole body anatomy condensed in "anatomical basis" (1st year) and in "BAyB" are included genetics, face and neck anatomy and teeth and oral cavity histology.

Four types of tissue

Complete body muscular anatomy

This is to much for us and also is too condensed that we don't know anything after all.

I propose that in the first semester we have to have a subject called just "biology" that includes the basics of cell biology and genetics like the Bachillerato does, and other subject called anatomy I in which we have to study only the human anatomy of thorax, abdomen, pelvis and limbs so that we leave the whole head and neck (our so called specialty) for just one subject called anatomy II in the second semester.
Head and neck anatomy

Also even though I hate it, we cannot leave histology apart, and as we have a whole subject to fill, we can have a subject called Histology in which we have to see general histology, systems histology and oral cavity histology.
Parotid (salivary) gland histology

With that better order of the subjects I think we can form better professionals because it would be easier to study these subjects separately than all together.

Also I don't like the way how physics is lectured because we use mathematical functions like trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent, etc) in order to solve physics problems, but not every student know them nor how they work.
Trigonometric Functions explained in the unit circle

And the last thing I am going to complain about is "Society and Culture" you all know what I'm talking about because it is extremely shitty and a complete waste of time, I think that it should be replaced with some sort of a "First Aid" subject because we have to know what to do in risk cases and not just take care about mouths.

  1. If you think that Bayb is too much wait for diagnostic, in only that subject we have biology, physiology, biochemistry, genetic, semiology, cariology and periodontology, it's so sad :'(

  2. Continuing with Daniela's comment, it's truth, BAyB is nothing compare to Diagnosis, the contents are even more condense, I know that because before Odontology I was in another health programme, where I have Biochemistry, Neuroscience as single subjects, I mean I studied each topic in one semester, in diagnosis you study all biochemistry in 3 weeks, all neuroscience in 3 weeks, then you have immunology, more genetics, more histology, semiology, just in one semester and in one single subjects, things that in other careers are studied in different subjects, and not all in one semester, so yeap... diagnosis is horrible, and you also have simulation, which is another subject that make your life shitty, even more than diagnosis... and in third year you are going to have Fundamentos, which is like diagnosis but like a hundred times worst... so... save your tears and suffering for later :c because even we all want changes, things probably won’t change :’c

  4. I fully support the idea of modifying society and culture for a subject where it is possible to learn first aid or a subject that is applicable in real life.
